Youthtown

Filled with anticipation half of team 4 went to experience a day at the one and only Youth Town!  Team 4  had been waiting for this moment to happen, when we were little we took a journey through art and success, I wonder if I still remember the last time and the first time I went to Youth Town! There is so MUCH to tell in my story.  My paragraphs are about my trip to youth town!


When I entered the Youth Town door I started to get some things straight I started to remember those days at youth town when I was in Miss She’s class and Miss Va’afusuaga’s class also my first teacher Miss Squires! Our teacher Miss Ouano leaded us to a comforting and warm room! half of room 17 and quarter of room 13 came last! We gasped as we saw Sue and Jorja come by we were so, so, so excited to take a journey with them  again!   Room 14’s first task on the trip was to make clay first while room 17 and quarter of room 13 went to go chill! “ YAAAAAAAAAY” room   14 cried out! “we’re going to make clay 1st!


We entered the clay room and saw some strange things lying around! My group sat down at the grey table- we picked up the pencils   and asked the teacher what their for, “hold on, i’m going to tell you in a minute” whispered Yvette.   She told us our instructions one of them were make the clay into the rim then create your success! But first we had to plan our ideas with a pencil and paper “oooh so that’s what it’s for  I said in my  head! We picked up our pencils and started to plan. Everyone around me had great ideas while my idea was to do a simple heart!  Yvette helped me while I was doing my work. Once I was done I sprinkled some safe glass on my clay and then added blue and red pebbles on my work of art! I was amazed by the little shine of my glass I sprinkled on my work, I think I did so well!


Then we gave a big thank you to Sue and Jorja it was so fun with them! Miss ouano leaded us back to the room.  We started to lay back and eat our lunch, I was so excited to go to the pools! I grabbed my sweet  chilli chicken roll and ate quietly! “ We have an announcement” Miss Ouano said! Room 14 get quickly changed in the bathroom and the rest quietly go to the clay room!

The girls quickly got into their swimming togs! Finally we met at the pools with the rest of my class! Miss Ouano told us our instruction to not go to the deep end and to stay on the shallow part of the pool! We danced, we flipped , we got crazy in the pool!


I have had a journey through youth town and success and great teamwork we had so many love and care at youth town ! We are thinking of going back to youth town! THANKYOU YOUTH TOWN!
                                           

Gleaming Water 2012!

Filled with anticipation, we walked to the pool, because nothing excites us more than swimming.
My paragraphs are about swimming in 2012. Finally it was Team 4’s turn off to swimming(:

My Feet slipped into the pool like a dolphin’s tail. Lying on my back, my feet were kicking. The water was warm and relaxing around my body. Kick kick, breathe, breathe, swimming is exhausting  In my group there were less girls and more boys. Our instructor was a female her name was Natalie


We were learning to do Freestyles and Gliding! Holding on to the board my legs were really exhausted and my hands were slipping out of the board barely!  As I was kicking my feet got a little weak and it hurt my legs, but what I knew was that I could never give up!


All this term I have been learning that I could never give up. The moral of our swimming is to save our souls one day! I had a lot of fun and I had heaps of relaxation with my instructor! She has told me lot’s and giving me good instructions. I hope one day she will never give up!(:

Andy Warhol's Style Of Art!

The wonderful Andy Warhol decided to draw magnificent popular art! He became the prince of pop art, one of his greatest is his Marilyn Monroe painting! My paragraphs are about Andy Warhol’s style of art. Andy Warhol was a famous American  who draws popular things and popular people! He is famous because he can do popular  art and they are a hit!         

Andy Warhol’s art is very popular because he drew supermarket products that he got payed for. Pop art is when the colors are reversed and it mostly contains bold outlines! Mostly he drew art of tomato soup cans for the supermarket. Also he painted celebrities like Marilyn Monroe.  For his experience he has done a lot of silk screening, sketching, screen printing, cropping.

Bright colors shone against Marilyn Monroe’s  face as Andy Warhol screen printed his lovely Pop Art! Andy Warhol inverts the colors to Marilyn Monroe’s face. He uses simple strong shapes to make his pop art stand out. His pictures are very similar to a very popular comic books.This is because he is a thoughtful man.

My final thoughts on Andy Warhol's art is that they are superbly amazing because thats why his art always stands out. I think he was a really great artist. His pieces of art always stand out in the crowd. My favorite piece would be his latest ones such as his painting of Michael Jackson.

Book Report!

What ever you do, don't ask Greg Heffley how he spent his summer holidays because he definitely  Doesn't want to talk about it!

  

The book I read was amazing the book this  was about a boy named Greg enters a new middle school year, he's eager to put the past three months behind him . . . and one event in particular!  

Unfortunately for Greg, his older brother Rodrick knows all about the incident. And secrets have a way of getting out. . . especially when a diary is involved! 

The funniest part of the book was when everyone was wearing board shorts and Greg was the only one  wearing these skimpy racing speedos, everyone was laughing so he ran to the bathroom to skip swimming practice so he rolled himself up with toilet paper so he doesn't get hypothermia!  

In the middle of the story Rodrick throws his own party when mum and dad are gone with Manny at a wonderful hotel! But Greg is stuck in the basement! but in the morning  every thing turned out to be crazy! Mum left a message and they started going crazy! they cleaned up the house crazily! at the end everything was settled and happy!

The moral of the story is that try and have a cool holiday also dont skip class!

Immersion Assembly

On the first day of term 4,room 13 went to immersion assembly. Our topic was Outta This World. This means that we have to learn about a lot of facts about planets. To begin our immersion assembly Mr Burt told us a story about the hook from heaven,my favourite part of the story was when he tried To catch north island with the grandmas blood on the hook. Our first item was team 1 and they did a clip -they did one movie about their focus which is here comes the sun ,it looked amazing when they were pretending to shiver. Next was team 2 and their focus was about different planets so they did a rap about it. They wore television helmets, gloves, glasses and black clothing. Next was team 3 ,their focus was astronauts telling us about gravity and how to go to the toilet in space. Dancing on stage was team 4 and the did twinkle,twinkle,little star,They have worn wigs,tutus,pompoms and yellow stickers around them. Finally our last item was team 5 they did their one on star wars. The clip was so funny when they had shown the characters ,my favorite character was Lando This term means that I can do good work on my tasks. Learning about outta space is a really big thing that makes our work interesting.

Cross country!

What did you do on Wednesday?

At Point England Reserve we did cross country,I was so excited while I was sitting on the field.

Nervously waiting my heart felt really pumped ,I felt really scared That I had temper,getting started was really scary Because I thought that I was going to lose.


I heard Mr Burt saying "on you marks,get set , GO".I ran really fast to get through people,while running my heart was pounding so fast that I lost Breath.While going through bridges I saw miss squires capturing photo’s of people running by .

At the end of the race I was exhausted,Then I saw miss king capturing photo’s too,But didn’t really matter at all.I was almost there ,So I ran so quick trying to get to the finish line.

Cross country was fun because we running so hard that we lost our breath.Next year my goals are never giving up at any time.

Aussie Rules

One blustery afternoon Room 13 went outside to play Aussie  Rules with 2 expert coaches,their names were Alysa and Megan.


Our first skill we learnt was to do a quick warm up called the Bumper Jumper.First you hop on one leg then you get your partner so close and try to bump them, to make her stand on two feet. I lost against Ana!


“Now come to the floor” shouted Megan  and Alysa. Our next skill was bouncing the ball. In Aussie Rules in order to run, you have to bounce the ball - so we had to practice. It’s harder than it looks. Our first attempt was to bounce the ball while on our knees. Next we tried standing, then walking, finally running. I struggled to get it right.

Then we did an activity called kick baseball, we got into teams.when I got the ball I did a short kick so it was a really tough kick.That was not very good at all for my team,It  was so frustrating after all.At least we won the game.     


Doing Aussie Rules skills with Megan and Alysa was very fun and cool. We really did some great work with them and I look forward to learning more.

Badminton soccer with lorene and donnah

My hand swung back and forth to take control of the racket. I served the shuttle over my head with an especially powerful hit. My partner hit the shuttle back at me with an awkward ping, so I ran back and forth trying to hit the shuttle over to her side.

Trick shots were a little tough to use. I gasped as I almost did the under leg trick, but it didn’t matter, I could try this challenge again. “It must be the hardest trick of all time”.

While I was pivoting ,the instructor gave me a few tips as she was walking by. So I started to use her cool tips to impress her. I concentrated on the great things she had told me and it wasn’t so hard after all.

Jordenne and I worked so hard to get this presentation ready. Our all black we have chosen is michael Jones for our presentation because he is so strong.So sit back and enjoy our story line.

The Greatest Haka.

Challenging actions were shown by the all black team with fierce war cry and passionate screams.using their powerful and strong haka they represented their country,Aotearoa strong.

They finished the haka and luckily th game was on.

Champion healthy food eating

Having three meals a day helps our body grow with a lot of energy. It helps us with thinking and learning and also we need to balance our diet too, with a variety of foods.

Healthy eating means ,having a lot of the right nutrients,Meat,fish,milk and water.Sometimes we need a bit of fat and sugar to keep our body working.

Eating healthy helps you with a lot of exercise and it also helps you living a normal healthy life.

William Web Ellis

Hundreds of players were playing football out the field in rugby school,handling the ball was permitted,not allowed to run with it. The game football caused major injuries with serious medical effects, these medical effects were caused by tackling, Enormous rolling mauls also kicking.
In 1823 It is reported that William Web Ellis ran with ball. In 1845 the first set of rules were written for the new game rugby.

Trip to Motat

Luckily a program had been settled for room 13 to have a chance to go to Motat. Room 13 had been looking forward with excitement . We went there because we wanted to learn about inventions, old trains and to see lots of stuff that we may or may not have seen before. A lady named Stacey showed us around and she told us where we were supposed to go. First we went in a nice and warm room to have our lunch, I could not eat my lunch because I was so excited. After eating we went walking around and we saw big and small bikes. We went in a room that was full of old things like phones, computers and other stuff that I have not seen before. After Stacey had talked to us, we had a look around. My favourite thing I saw was the Brownie camera. We got into a circle to tell Stacey what we had found, there were lots of things that people had seen. We went into our groups, my group was Kashya, Jordenne, Thea, Mary, Kashya’s mum and Sela. First we went to the red telephone, we thought it was fake but it was real. After that we went into We went to a place called Spacey’s. Spacey’s is a place full of science and techno stuff. I went to a place where you sit in the chair and you press the button and it starts to shake, it felt like the earthquake was really happening. I went to a yellow school locker and it was 3D. After that we went to a game room that was really fun because there was twister and connect 4 and there were blocks too. My favourite game was the Mario game, when you have to make Mario jump so he does not get hit. after that we went to the mirror maze, there were mirrors everywhere and it was very confusing. This experience was fun and inspiring because I got to see lots of inventions and see how they were Bigger, Better, Faster and Stronger. This trip has helped me understand more about inventions.

School Uniform Plan.

The problem is that this month is winter and a Jumper and track pants is not enough, so we fixed it by using a jacket, the jacket contains polyester and a hoddie.

We had chosen this because this month is winter and a Jumper is not enough. the hoddie is to keep out rain from our heads.

It makes it better then before because it has a hoddie that keeps your head away from rain and keeps us warmer.

Life or Death?

“Hurry up Josephine!” My annoying sister shouted. I was too scared to move. Roller coasters are my worst nightmare. Holding on tight, I screamed “ahhhhhhhh!”, as I screamed I looked on to the ground,I quickly closed my eyes ,but as I closed my eyes the ride was done .It was not so bad after all,I wanted to go again but I did not want to close my eyes again.

I AM MAKING MOVIES 2

‘’Where did you go on Sunday and what did you do’’?

Well on Sunday I went to the Auckland museum for an awards ceremony. A very special awards ceremony- I Am Making Movies 2! My class had entered our movie and we were so excited about the possibility of winning a major prize.

I quickly sat down between Kashya and Mary . I stared at the the projector watching parts of video clips. Then I saw the Pt England Kapa Haka group. They sang lots of wonderful songs and awesome actions too. My favorite part of the museum was when we won our prize for best production, because there were people taking photos of us, so it made me feel happy.
There were 2 singing groups performing too. My favourite one was Pride of Auckland. They sang smoothly and added some funny beats.
Moving on we had the next category for best supreme winner I crossed my fingers together, hoping that we would win and finally I heard that Our History, Our Heritage had won. I was really happy and proud of our Yr 8 girls!

Back To The Future part 1

Doc quickly reversed with a sound of screech.’’Hey Doc we better back up we don’t have enough road to get to 88?’’.Marty was feeling scared and worried while Jennifer was looking miserible filled with fear and staring at the windows. ‘’ Roads, where we’re going we don’t need roads’’ said Doc as he adjusted his shiny glasses. The Delorean zoomed out with gulp of
extra fire and zooming back out with lots of speed.

History of the camera

In 1826 a man captured his first snapshot in France, using a metal plate coated with silver. 12 years later Jacques Daguerre, made a camera and it was made out of copper plate. The metal was covered in Bitumen which is like the concrete on the road.
One of the first camera’s had what looked like a telescope on the front of it. There are many different types of camera and one type from America is called Kodac, which was invented by George Eastmen .
Chemicals are used to develop the pictures. Camera’s have changed alot over the years, starting with them being large and now they are small.
