Dear Parents . . . .

Dear Parents/Caregivers . . .

Thank you for all your support throughout the school picnic. We wouldn’t have gone without you.  Not only do I want to thank you for your support, but for coming with us and looking after us. My favourite part was lying down in the sun . What was yours?  I liked lying in the sun because , I got to talk A LOT to my friends. Thanks for always checking up on how we were.

During our picnic , we had lots of fun ! Did you know that every time of the year when we have a picnic we always have a meeting in the hall before we go to the reserve. During the meeting , most of the houses have a chant to represent to the school. After

Thanks Mr Alai, for lending us your speakers and thanks for a giving us a spot to have our lunch and relax. Once again thanks for all your help during the picnic! I thought that was really important about our picnic.

We wouldn’t have had that much fun without you. I hope you had a big rest after our picnic.

What is a netbook and how is it used?

Netbooks are a learning tool that students in the Maniakalani Cluster use. Everyday we either get our netbooks from the netbook cupboard and  Mrs Tele'as  office ( if we have any issues or if we are picking up a loan book ) . Everyday we use our netbook to access our learning online. We use different sites to do our learning, such as Maths Whizz, Google Drive, Blogger and more. Some of the teachers and the parents recommended that a netbook should be used for Year 4- 8 . We often use this device at home.

What does a netbook look like? A  netbook is a electronic device that is portable. Its a laptop , except its small. A netbook features a camera that is on top of the screen , a built in speaker and it comes in with a charger cable. And of course it has 82 keys which are the 'crucial ' part of the netbook. Why? Of course , its for typing up all your thinkning. Black is the colour of my netbook . If you look at the back of a netbook , it has the name " Asus" engraved at the back which is the Brand of the netbook.

How does the netbook work? Well, on our netbooks we are able to go on different sites like, google , emails and maths whizz.  If our internet isnt working we use Gedit to write our stories. Gedit is a notepad for our netbook. So when our internet starts working we are able to copy our writing from gedit and paste it on our google document. On mathz whizz , we are able to do different tasks that are related to maths only. On maths whizz, we can decorate our room and we also earn credits , if we past a test. What is an email? On our netbook, the teachers have set up a google email , so we can keep in contact with teachers or any other students.

Right now , I am answering 40 questions in Studyladder and it includes different strategies like ,  Multiplication, addition , subtraction and division! I hope you'll get the chance to have a go at Studyladder - Here is the link _  http://www.studyladder.co.nz

Empathy

Empathy . What could that possibly mean? Empathy , it seems to be a very strong word to me. Empathy means being a good friend, trying hard to understand another persons feeling and emotions. Recognizing what they've either been through.  It is similar to our moral , that we learnt " Put Yourself In Their Shoes " .  If somebody is alone , at school , church or at home try your best to make them feel comfortable treat them the way you would like to be treated!

How does empathy work? Well, empathy works by ' not ' staring at somebody who is alone. Empathy works by putting your kind words in action. Help them find new friends , introduce them , take them around! That's how it works . Not only can it be to children , but to adults to . Say Hi, to the new teachers , such as Miss Clarke and Miss Paget !  They are all friends to us!

If a friend is down and wouldn't be able to talk about her/his feelings than try not to talk about it. Understand her/his emotions. Try talk about it thoroughly when the person is ready to say something. Take a walk around somewhere and settle.

Duffy Theatre!

Rose, Bingo and Duffy! The three main characters of  the duffy show. Rose, who was a crazy, wild and smart girl. Bingo, who played rugby and was a good tackler and Duffy who loved to think and especially read.  Duffy told Rose that he has an uncle thats coming to visit. Bingo . Rose couldn’t do anything to be quiet. She was star struck. Bingo entered the room talking on the phone. “ Hello , im your nephew “ introduced Duffy . “ And i’m Rose “ Interrupted Rose.

Rose had a special present for Bingo , it was a book. It had silver wrapping around it. Duffy had tried to get Bingo into books. But he just wasn’t . Sooner or later , Duffy grabbed a gold book with big blue writing on it. Titled : the best book. He tried mixing different sounds into the book . This was going to be great for Bingo!  Duffy and rose mixed and mixed different sounds such as Pirates, colours and animals. At that moment I told my friends how weird it was making sounds never heard before.  Bingo came out of the bathroom. “ Hey Bingo! Hey Bingo! “ they shouted as he made his way walking to them. “ Bingo , we made a special book for you with different sounds and all these people thought of it , I think you’ll love it “  Duffy said. My legs started to get sore so I sat down on my knees to still get a better view of the show!

Bingo wasn’t really interested in opening the book, however unexpectedly Bingo , Rose and Duffy opened the book only to find a bunch of web caught all over them.  They asked us if we could repeat the sounds we made during making the book . All though, I didn’t  really remember the sounds  nor did the people sitting next to me.  Finally, they got out of the web trap. Bingo started to feel really hot , while rose was really mad so she was about  to hit her present on  Bingo . Bingo looked at it . “ What is this? “ he thought. He used it as a fan. “ Bye see you guys later. “

So there Bingo was , waiting  for the flight to be over . He was flying to Sydney for the big grand final.  “ Passengers, please turn off all electronic devices. “ announced the captain.  The flight attendant, came pass Bingo and his 3 electronic devices. “ Sir you’ll need to turn everything off” “But it’s going to be sooooo boring “ “ Do you want to die ?” At that, Bingo turned it off. “ What am I supposed to do? “ “ read a book “ Bingo thought about it . He looked at Roses present . He opened it only to find a book about ballerinas. Through his flight , he pondered the book and read the book.

“ Hello and welcome to the rugby grand final “ Duffy and Rose sat down and watched the game.  “ Look its Bingo! “ Rose shouted. I looked at my friends reactions , Leila was interested and it looked like Sela was interested too!  As I looked at bingo I could see he was doing some ballerina moves. He won the game!  “ Perhaps ? he did read my book! “ shouted Rose. “ He did! “ they cheered and cheered. “ Well that’s it for today , Bingo any last words? “  “ Thanks to my coach and especially Duffy and Rose you guys are the best , keep reading! “ he said . Rose and Duffy started to sing a song!  It was a really awkward song .in my opinion.

Overall the show was amazing and fun to see. It was great to see different morals in the theatre! Sometimes it gets boring but still , it’s good for you! The best part is to enjoy it!

Waitangi Day #3PS

I guess you’re wondering why theres 3 paragraphs below. You might be thinking what is the main thing about it? These paragraphs  are mainly about Waitangi day. Also about the 3 p’s that were contained in the treaty!

1. Protection :

Protection is another word for safe, defence and immunity.  Protection. What does it mean? Is it food? a drink? a chemical? Protection is defending yourself , being responsible and preservation. What does it got to do with our school? Showing the way could be an example of protection. We could show the little kids what it’s like to be responsible for things.  Showing the new entrances the right way to play , use language and think. That’s protection.

Partnership:

Partnership is involving with one another. Working together , socialising with each other . Disagreeing and agreeing with one another is good partnership. Kia Pai Te Kotahi. Better together. Partnership doesn’t mean leaving a person out and left alone! Partnership is working together in a group co-operating also having trust in one group.

Participation :

In action of volunteering , joining in and having  trust. Participation is having to do something never done before . No matter how boring it is, or how   hard it is, how confusing it is , participation is all it takes. Participating in helping our teachers , other students or family is another way to explain it.  Experiencing something never done before , is sometimes how I participate.

Holiday Highlight!

1. Candles blowing, people dancing and lots of presents! What more could you ask for a 21st birthday? 24th of july marked a very special day for a special grown man, by the name of Matthew. Matthew Schuster .  Every 21st had to be wild , but in my opinion this one was even wilder! At six o’clock I got out of the car only to see a crowd full of friends and whanau all gathering up for a special birthday. As I got in I could smell sweet senses of cake . Banana cake.

After all the eating and dancing , it was time for Matthew to receive his key of honour.  Lot’s of the elderly were giving speeches about memories and what should be done in the future for him. I was strongly amazed. Mat also gave a speech about his thoughts throughout the year. He did share a tiny tear too.

Overall the party was amazing! I got to know lots new people . My favorite part was seeing different items. The most worst part was leaving  the party. What an awesome night it was.
